The SBU opened a criminal case over the glorification of Russia in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

The case was opened based on the article on the justification of Russian aggression.

The Security Service of Ukraine opened criminal proceedings against glorification of “Russian peace in one of the temples of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” on November 12. Then, during the service in the church, the theses of a propagandist nature, praising the “Russian measure”, were directly sounded.

As the special service stated, the investigation is being conducted on the basis of part 1 of Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants.

“Currently, all materials have been sent for the relevant examinations,” the SBU says.

After a wave of angry objections from the UOC MP, which is based in the Lavra, the vicar of the Lavra, Metropolitan Pavlo (Lebyd) in the end, he admitted that in one of the churches of the monastery, the parishioners did sing a song about Russia, but he assured that the song was “secular” and had nothing to do with the service, because it was sung after the service. At the same time, the vicar of the Lavra claims that Father Zacharias, who allowed the singing of hymns, was forbidden to perform the liturgy and prayers.
