The head of Germany's cyber security agency is suspected of ties to Russian special services

Now they are looking for a replacement.

Minister of the Interior of Germany Nancy Feather is looking for a replacement for the head of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) Arne Schoenbom. He is suspected of ties to the special services of the Russian Federation. This is reported by Bild.

Arne Schoenbom was suspected of ties to Russia after the publication of an investigation by ZDF Magazin Royale, which said that he was allegedly in active contact with the association Cyber-Sicherheitsrat Deutschland. According to journalists, this organization is closely connected with the Russian special services.

Therefore, Nancy Feather plans to find a replacement for Schoenbom “as soon as possible”. Currently, the selection of a candidate for the position of the head of the department for security in the field of information technology is underway. This organization is supposed to protect the German cyberspace from hacker attacks.

It is interesting that Schoenbom forbade the employees of his government to participate in the activities of this association. However, journalists have every reason to believe that even a month ago he himself attended the anniversary event of the club and gave a speech at it.
