North Korea's missile tests simulate a nuclear strike on South Korea – KCNA

North Korea's ruling Workers' Party has decided to hold the exercise as an inevitable response to the “large-scale mobilization of US and South Korean naval forces.”

North Korea's recent series of missile tests were carried out from with the aim of simulating the shelling of South Korea with tactical nuclear weapons as a warning after large-scale military exercises there together with the Americans, Reuters reports with reference to the North Korean state news agency.

Kim Jong Un has been leading drills for tactical nuclear operation units involving ballistic missiles with simulated nuclear warheads for the past two weeks, KCNA reported, giving understand that it was supposed to convey a “powerful signal of the West”.

“The effectiveness and practical combat capability of our nuclear combat forces have been fully demonstrated as they are fully prepared to strike and destroy targets at any time from any location,” the Korean news agency said. And the head of the DPRK said:

“Despite the fact that the enemy continues to talk about dialogue and negotiations, we have nothing to talk about and we do not feel the need to do so.”

The ruling Workers' Party North Korea decided to conduct the exercise as an imminent response to “a large-scale mobilization of US and South Korean naval forces, including an aircraft carrier and a nuclear-powered submarine.”
