Since March, the level of support for sanctions in Germany has decreased.
More than half of German residents — 53% — support maintaining the introduced sanctions against Russia, even if they will be associated with rising prices, as well as interruptions in energy supply and problems for the country's economy. This is evidenced by the results of the Deutschlandtrend sociological survey conducted by the Infratest dimap institute commissioned by the ARD TV channel, DW reports.
However, the same survey after the beginning of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, conducted in March 2022, showed that sanctions against Russia was supported by two thirds (66%) of respondents.
According to a new survey, 40% of respondents are against sanctions if they lead to negative consequences and become a burden for Germany. In the eastern part of the country, this is the opinion of more than half of the respondents.
According to the results of the survey, the voters of the Soyuz-90/green party support sanctions against the Russian Federation the most – 90% of the respondents. Voters of the right-wing populist Alternative for Germany party support sanctions the least — about 10% of respondents.
Also, according to the survey, the level of support for the government has decreased in Germany.
The share of Germans who approve of the country's government has decreased to 31%. The survey also showed the mood of supporters of different parties. In particular, among Alternative for Germany voters, 96% are dissatisfied with the work of the government. Among supporters of the conservative bloc CDU/CSU – 77%, among voters of the Left Party – 74% disapprove of the activities of the country's government. Among the voters of the Free Democratic Party, 63% of respondents are dissatisfied with the work of the government.
At the same time, more than half of those polled who support the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and the “Greens” are satisfied with the work of Chancellor Olaf Scholz's government. According to the survey, the level of dissatisfaction with Germany's policy in these groups was 40% and 36%.

Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country, Annalena Burbok, said that even if protests break out in Germany in autumn and winter due to high energy prices, this will not lead to the lifting of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
