Earlier it was reported that Liz Truss intends to appoint Suella Braverman, the Attorney General, as Home Secretary, so in any case keeping the Home Secretary post is almost was probably not possible for the Patels. But there have been rumors that she could get another post in the Truss administration.
Also, the election of Liz Truss as party leader leaves the government with Nigel Adams, who has served as minister of state without portfolio in the cabinet from 2021.
