Vegetables will become cheaper, meat prices will remain at the same level.
The cost of vegetables in Ukraine will fall against the background of new crop shops. At the same time, meat prices will remain stable, as there is a surplus of fodder, in particular, enough grain. This was stated by Svitlana Lytvyn, an analyst of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business (UKAB), RBC-Ukraine reports.
Vegetables
According to her, vegetable prices traditionally fall as the new harvest arrives.
“Therefore, during July, we should expect a decrease in prices for all types of vegetables, especially as vegetables from the open ground arrive. And even the inflationary processes taking place in the country due to the war will not be able to restrain this decrease,” she believes .
Milk
Dairy prices were more or less stable in June and will remain unchanged for at least the next couple of weeks.
While milk prices are rising globally due to higher feed and energy prices, grain prices are low in Ukraine as oversupply is holding back the rising cost of milk production.
Meat
“If we talk about beef, meat processing complexes hardly buy it, because now there is an oversaturation of it on the market. Beef is a more export-oriented product, which is almost not traded abroad due to the blocking of ports. Therefore, we can say that the price of beef in the near future will not change, but may also “sag” by 2-3%,” Lytvyn believes.
As for pork, the situation is more complicated, the analyst stressed. Industrial supply decreased due to the exit from the market of manufacturers in the eastern and southern regions. This in turn pushed prices up. “Prices will not rise sharply in the near future, due to the fact that 9,000 tons of pork were imported in June, which is almost 4 times more than in June 2021. This will increase domestic supply and prevent prices from rising,” she said.
With chicken, prices are stable and will not change in the near future. “All the same, low prices for grain crops are still restraining the further increase in prices for the meat group as well,” predicts the UKAB analyst.
