New G7 sanctions hit Kremlin mouthpieces: Channel One, NTV and Russia-1

American equipment is no longer available to Russian propagandists.

G8 countries impose sanctions on three Russian state TV channels – First Channel, NTV, “Russia-1”. The inclusion of the main Russian propaganda channels in the sanctions list is reported on the White House website.

“The United States will impose sanctions on the three most watched, directly or indirectly controlled by the state channels – the First Channel, Russia-1, NTV,” the statement said, following a video conference of G7 leaders. A spokesman for the US administration added during the briefing that US advertising campaigns, broadcasting technology, as well as video cameras, microphones and audio equipment will no longer be available to the three TV channels.
