Nancy Pelosi wanted hostage and possibly maimed – NYT

A number of charges have already been brought against the suspect: one main charge and six additional charges.

The man who broke into the house Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and her husband Paul, wanted to take the politician hostage and probably break her kneecaps. This is stated in the federal indictment cited by the New York Times.

It says the attacker, identified as David DePaipe, believes Pelosi is “the ringleader of the pack of lies being peddled by the Democratic Party.” A number of charges have already been brought against him: one main charge and six additional charges. It is about:

  • attempted murder,
  • breaking into an apartment,
  • elderly abuse (Pelosi's husband is 82),
  • assault with a deadly weapon,
  • < span>illegal detention of a person,
  • threats to family members of civil servants.

According to the investigation, the suspect entered the house through the back door, breaking the glass. And when Paul Pelosi said that his wife was not there, the attacker tied him up, after which he hit the man with a hammer that he had brought with him. Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, who was in Washington at that time. As a result, her husband Paul was injured – he was hit with a hammer, so he later underwent surgery.

Reuters reminded that Pelosi, a Democrat, is second in line for the post of US president while in office. Moreover, the attack took place less than two weeks before the mid-term elections, which are to be held in the United States on November 8.
