In connection with the approach of the typhoon, the Japan Meteorological Agency has published a special warning for Kagoshima Prefecture. Local media emphasize that such emergency warnings are issued only in the event of an extraordinary natural phenomenon that occurs once every few decades and threatens the lives of citizens.

Nanmadol is expected to could bring record rains to Kagoshima. Landslides and flooding are possible due to strong winds and high waves. In this regard, residents of 965 thousand households were ordered to evacuate through the coastal cities of Miyazaki, Kagoshima and Amakusa.
