How many refugees plan to return to Ukraine — survey of Ukrainians in Poland

Only 22.2% intend to go home before the end of the year.

1,440 citizens who were interviewed by the analytical center of the international employment agency Gremi Personal took part in the survey. And there is a figure that confirms the trend that the majority will remain in Poland until the end of the war – about 53% of parents plan to send their children to Polish schools.

“We predict that the majority of Ukrainians will return to their homeland as soon as the danger passes. However, a significant part of citizens will remain abroad due to a number of subjective factors — loss of housing, low wages, better living conditions and, of course, the lack of life risks,” says Anna Jobolda, director of the recruitment department of the international employment agency Gremi Personal.

According to the expert, Ukrainians fear the heating season in Ukraine. Because the Russians are targeting the energy infrastructure. Also, in some regions of Ukraine, people risk not only being left without heat or water in the winter, but also receiving payments that are extremely difficult to pay. In addition, the number of jobs in Ukraine has significantly decreased due to the war.

On the other hand, the situation in Poland is the opposite — employers' requests for workers are growing, which causes wages to rise. The average salary for labor specialties is UAH 28,000 to 32,000 per month (this is PLN 3,500 to 4,000).
