Ukraine is preparing emergency kits in case of an attack on critical infrastructure.
this year's heating season will start later and end earlier, and asked Ukrainians to prepare for cold batteries. He reported this in an interview with The Guardian.
According to him, the indoor temperature in winter will be four degrees lower than usual, so Ukrainians should stock up on warm blankets and clothes in case the frost hits minus 10°C.
Vitrenko predicts that the situation in winter will depend on whether international partners can now help Ukraine purchase 4 billion cubic meters of gas, as well as on whether unforeseen circumstances, such as the destruction of gas infrastructure by Russia or a further reduction in gas supplies to Europe, do not play out.< /p>
“Without [Western] financial support, we will not have enough gas, which means that we will have very high risks of failure of the energy system. [Without gas imports] there will be blackouts in large areas of Ukraine,” Vitrenko said, adding that Ukraine needs about 10 billion dollars to import gas.
However, current calculations may change if, for example, Russia targets some of Ukraine's most important gas infrastructure, power plants or gas production facilities. About 50% of Ukraine's gas fields are located in the Kharkiv region, four miles from the front line. If its or Ukrainian storages are damaged, Ukraine will have to import more gas.
Since February, Russia has targeted critical energy infrastructure, including oil refineries and power plants. When it comes to gas infrastructure or gas production facilities, Ukraine is preparing emergency kits that can serve up to 200,000 people, including mobile boiler houses, mobile heating stations and diesel generators.

“If such a large city as Kyiv or Kharkiv [is cut off], of course [the kits] will not be enough, but in some small cities these emergency kits will be important,” Vitrenko said . – Everything depends on the scale of the damage.
Earlier, the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko called on citizens to keep warm things ready and be ready for the disappearance of electricity and terrorist attacks on gas stations. Today, preparations for the heating season have been completed by 75%. The government allocated UAH 1 billion 409 million for the purchase of a strategic stock of material reserves for prompt response to heat and water supply problems expected in connection with the war.
