The importance of Holy Wednesday
It is believed that it was on Wednesday that Judas betrayed the Savior for 30 pieces of silver. Jesus knew that one of the disciples would betray him. This event led to the execution of Christ and his resurrection.
Another biblical event is commemorated on this day. On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, Jesus came to the house of Simeon the Leper in Bethany. There was also the sinner Mary Magdalene, who washed the Savior's feet and was cleansed of sins. She was later present at the execution of Jesus, and was one of those who brought the news of his resurrection.
