Moscow's position shows again that Russia cannot be relied on in the long run, German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said on Wednesday (April 27th). According to DW

According to him, efforts to reduce dependence on Russian gas supplies are on the agenda of official Berlin. “The sooner this happens, the better,” Hebeshtrait said.

Russia's Gazprom said it had cut off gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland on April 27. The reason: the Bulgarian gas company Bulgargas and the Polish state oil and gas company PGNiG did not pay for the supply of energy in rubles, as Russia wants. For their part, officials in Sofia and Warsaw have said they have fulfilled their commitments.
