An icon of the “Madonna of Kyiv” appeared in the Catholic Church of Naples

The prototype for the icon was the work of the artist from the Dnieper Julia Solomennikova.

In one of the Catholic churches of Italian Naples, a new icon appeared -” Madonna of Kiev “. It depicts Ukrainian Tetyana Blyzniak with her three-month-old daughter, whom she is holding in her arms in a bomb shelter at one of the capital's metro stations. This was announced by Pastor Pavlo Levushkan on Facebook .

The prototype for the icon was the work of the artist from the Dnieper Julia Solomennikova. She was inspired by an original photo of Hungarian journalist András Földes, in which a mother feeds her own child, hiding from the bombing of Russian invaders. Solomennikova created her own version of the image and shared it on social media on March 5. According to the artist, Bliznyak and her daughter became a real symbol of all Ukrainian mothers in this difficult time for the country. Currently, Tetyana Blyzniak and her baby are in Lviv.
