On a rainy morning, after reading the names of all those who died during the shelling of the Pentagon, the participants of the ceremony observed a moment of silence in memory of the victims. President Joe Biden laid a wreath in memory of the dead, and then addressed the families of the victims of the terrorist attacks and the military with a speech.

The US president emphasized that after the September 11 terrorist attacks, America demonstrated its national character.

“That character includes selflessness and love, magnanimity and courage, strength and resilience,” Biden said, and especially thanked the generation of Americans fighting the next war on terror and their families.

“We owe you a lot,” Biden said, adding that America will always support freedom and democracy.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi also expressed his condolences.

“This day is one of the most tragic in the history of the United States and the world. Ukraine, which is subjected to missile fire every day, knows well what terrorism is and sincerely sympathizes with the American people. Terrorism is an evil that has no place in the modern world!” the president wrote on Twitter.
