The survey showed that only slightly more than 20% of Britons were satisfied with the victory of the former foreign minister in the elections.
On September 5, it became known that Liz Truss defeated Rishi Sunak in the race for the post of Prime Minister of Great Britain. Despite the support of the people and promises to stabilize the economy of the United Kingdom, a large part of the British still believes that she will not be able to become more successful than her predecessor Boris Johnson. This is evidenced by the results of the YouGov survey.
According to the resource, about 40% of Britons are sure that Truss will be “about the same” as Johnson as prime minister. 27% believe that Truss will perform worse than her predecessor, and only 14% believe that she will be a more successful prime minister. Another 19% of respondents were undecided on this matter.
Among supporters of the Conservative Party, 17% expressed confidence that Truss would be better than Johnson, 31% — that they will be approximately the same and 34% — that it will be worse. Other respondents refrained from making predictions.
At the same time, the majority of British people (regardless of political preferences) expressed dissatisfaction with the victory of Truss in the elections for the head of the Conservative Party. 17% of respondents remained disappointed, 33% were very disappointed. 18% were satisfied with this result and only 4% were very satisfied.
