President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed a new commander of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The post was headed by Major General Igor Tantsyura. The relevant decree was signed by the President on May 15.
“To appoint Major General Tantsyur Ihor Ivanovych Commander of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the decree reads.
Major General Ihor Tantsyura changed to position of Yuri Galushkin.
Igor Tantsyura was previously the head of the 169th Training Center of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 2019, he became Chief of Staff and First Deputy Commander of the Joint Forces Operation. Later, Volodymyr Zelensky appointed him Deputy Commander of the Land Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and now Commander of the Territorial Defense Forces.
Major General Ihor Tantsyura was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree.
