Wyborcza: An expert from Italy explained what will happen if Ukraine stops supplying weapons

A military expert from Italy admitted that most of his compatriots were against the supply of weapons to the Ukrainian army, however, he stressed that this was a wrong position.

If not for the military assistance of other countries, for these two months “Ukraine would no longer be on the map.” And Vladimir Putin would go on the offensive against the Baltic states.

This opinion was expressed by the director of the Italian think tank CSI Andrea Margelletti, – writes Gazeta Wyborcza. Answering questions from Italian journalists, he stressed that the West is not trying to further inflame the war by providing additional military assistance to the Ukrainian army. In particular, the United States is going to allocate an additional $ 33 billion for this.

“I believe that at such a critical time we must put aside our sympathies and ideology. Those who are professionally engaged in analysis, rely on the facts. One country – Russia – invaded the territory of another country – Ukraine. Without international assistance, the victim of aggression would not have lasted longer than a few days, “Margelletti is convinced.

He also stressed that NATO countries are not the only ones sending military aid to Ukraine. And the purpose of this assistance is not to escalate the conflict, but to “increase the chances of the very existence of Ukrainians and their state.” Margalletti also commented on the position of those who oppose the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Like, this would lead to a “faster end to the war.” The Italian expert stressed that other countries should not decide what will be better for Ukrainians and their country. However, he stressed that “a stronger country does not have to win”. “Those who call for such reconciliation ignore the fact that peace requires the will of both sides. But it seems that Putin, who recently launched missiles at the UN, would like to lay down his arms, “said the Italian expert.

He added that without the supply of weapons to Ukraine, “Putin would have captured Kyiv and Ukraine in a few days, and then attacked the Baltic states.” Margelletti also pointed to various polls showing that most people in Italy oppose sending weapons to the Ukrainian army.

“The fear of what might happen in the future is understandable. But because of him, instinctive reaction replaces rational reaction, “he explained.

It will be recalled that earlier the US Congress supported the bill on land lease for Ukraine.

Russia is unequivocally threatening the world with its “nuclear stick.” If we impose the new statements that are being made from Moscow now on the long-standing practice of public seizure of nuclear weapons by Vladimir Putin, senior Russian officials, numerous experts and the media, it can be argued that the threshold for Russia's use of nuclear weapons is low.
