An old friend of the Kremlin continues to oppose the imposition of energy sanctions against Russia.
The Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán stated that by asking to impose an embargo on Russian oil and gas, Ukraine is asking to stop the Hungarian economy. He said this on Sunday morning on Koshuta radio, writes the Hungarian newspaper Telex.
According to him, without Russian gas and oil, the Hungarian economy will stop. At the same time, Orban said, Austria and Germany hold the same opinion.
“The question for Hungary is not whether it is ready to pay a little more money for energy and help Ukraine, because then we would be ready for that. It is a question of whether gas will come at all,” Orban said.
According to him, without Russian oil, which occupies 61% of the market, the country will have a fuel shortage. As for gas, it accounts for 85% of all supplies to the country.
“If there is no oil and gas, the Hungarian economy will stop: factories will be closed, there will be mass unemployment. What Ukrainians are asking is to completely stop the Hungarian economy, lose years of development again and reduce the productivity of the Hungarian economy to 8 10 years ago, “he said.
“I will do everything in our power to help the Ukrainians, because they were attacked, they got into trouble. In such a dramatic situation, the dispute over how our minorities were treated is secondary. We will not forget, but it is secondary. We will do it. all that is in our power, but we cannot demand to destroy ourselves for their sake, “Orban added.
