Domestic business prefers European consumers.
About a third of all small and medium businesses in Ukraine have already expanded their activities to foreign consumers. At the same time, they prefer European markets. This is evidenced by the data of the Mastercard SME Index study.
According to the study, among the main needs, entrepreneurs note the lack of new orders and sales markets (56%), means of development (33%) and the need for assistance with logistics (23% ).
However, 28% of entrepreneurs who continue to work during the war have already expanded their activities to foreign customers.
Another 21% plan to start doing so in the future. At the same time, they mostly sell their goods and services to the markets of the USA (30%), Poland (27%), Germany (13%), Great Britain (10%), Lithuania (10%) and Canada (10%).
Among the most priority markets that Ukrainian business is considering for further expansion of sales geography:
- Poland (61%);
- Bulgaria (13%);
- Great Britain (13%);
- Italy (11%);
- Moldova (11%).
The main barriers that prevent small and medium-sized businesses from entering foreign markets are a lack of financial resources (29%), specialized knowledge (27%) and a lack of production capacity (12%).
In addition, within the framework of the study, entrepreneurs singled out IT services (49%) as the most promising Ukrainian bestseller in the world, which will have the greatest demand in the international arena.
Among other potential Ukrainian bestsellers, Ukrainian designer clothes were named (28%). craft products (26%) and jewelry, including jewelry (23%).
