Ukraine will be able to sell its electricity to the EU – Ministry of Finance

“The European market will be more transparent for Ukraine, less politicized, more open”.

Ukraine has recently joined the European grid, becoming a member of ENTSO-E and will now be able to sell its electricity in the Western market. On the Facebook page of the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko.

At the initial stage of creation, Ukraine's energy system was closely linked in terms of technology view of the respective systems of Russia, Belarus and Moldova. At the same time, the situation was such that dependence on Russia became especially acute in case of emergencies.

However, after the launch of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in autumn 2020, Ukraine became an importer of electricity from Belarus. It should be noted that this project in the city of Ostrovets, Grodno region, was implemented with the financial support of the Russian company Atomstroyexport.

In fact, Minsk will pay the proceeds to Moscow, namely Rosatom as a loan repayment.
