The USA makes the second delivery of these missiles to Ukraine
< p>Ukraine was able to modernize the Soviet MiG-29 fighters to use the American AGM-88 HARM missiles, included in the new US military aid package. This was reported in the Pentagon
“We are providing additional high-speed anti-radar missiles. These are HARM missiles. Ukraine successfully used these missiles. They have successfully integrated them into Ukrainian aircraft, and this allows Ukraine to search for and destroy Russian radars, so we will provide additional HARM missiles,” the Pentagon said.
The US Department of Defense also specified that the carriers of the missiles became Ukrainian MiG fighters.
“The aircraft they integrated the HARM missiles with is their MiG aircraft. They successfully implemented technical integration and based on that, we provided them with these missiles. So this is actually the second tranche of HARMS that we are providing,” the Pentagon clarified

It should be noted that the MiG-29 is the only MiG fighter in service with the Air Force of Ukraine. But the Ukrainian MiG-29 and MiG-29MU1 are not full-fledged multi-purpose fighters and do not have on-board systems for striking ground targets.
The only modernization capable of this is the MiG-29MU2, which began testing in 2019. The tests ended in March 2021, and nothing is known about the order from the side of the armed forces.
The experience of modernizing Soviet aircraft to work with American weapons is available to such NATO countries as Poland, Slovakia and Romania. Given the fact that the list of Western aid included “spare parts for MiG aircraft” (in the West, any Soviet aircraft is often called “MiG”), Western partners could help with modernization. Although previously only Romania managed to fully integrate Western weapons into a Soviet aircraft.
