History of celebration in Ukraine

Mother's Day became an official holiday in the early twentieth century. In Ukraine, it was first celebrated in 1929 in Lviv, and then the celebration spread to the Ternopil region and Eastern Galicia. But in Soviet times, the celebration was banned.

After the proclamation of Ukraine's independence, Mother's Day is officially celebrated on the second Sunday in May, a holiday established by presidential decree in 1999.

Celebration traditions

Celebration traditions differ in different countries. In most cases, it is customary to give mothers gifts and flowers.

In the United States, it is customary to attach a carnation flower to clothing. If it is colored, then the mother is alive, and the white carnation is a tribute to the mother who died.

In addition, there is a tradition to give mothers rings with stones. The number of stones in them may correspond to the number of children in it. Bouquets are also given, in which flowers must be colored.

Different countries also have different days to celebrate Mother's Day. Yes, they can be timed to various religious holidays associated with the Virgin: the Annunciation, the Assumption, the Immaculate Conception and so on.
