Ukraine managed to release from Russian captivity two heads of local councils, according to the Association of Ukrainian Cities.

These are Holoprystan Mayor Oleksandr Babych and Stanislavsky Village Mayor Ivan Samoilenko from Kherson Oblast.

Babych spent three months in captivity – on March 28 he was abducted by the enemy because of his patriotic stance and refusal to cooperate with the occupiers. networks.

Both men were released from captivity on June 28.

According to the AUC, the occupiers are holding three more mayors, their fate is unknown. In total, during the full-scale war, the Russian occupiers abducted 55 officials, 30 of whom were mayors.
