Turkey will break relations with Russia very slowly – Dzhemilev

But Erdogan's statement regarding Crimea is very important.

with Russia very slowly, because the economies of the countries are very connected, and anti-American sentiments are strong in the country, says the leader of the Crimean Tatar people, Mustafa Dzhemilev.

“Each leader checks his steps with the national interests of his country. The economic ties of the Republic of Turkey with Russia are very extensive, there is a huge trade turnover, and the complete elimination of the gas bottleneck is also very far away. If we imagine that Turkey completely ends these ties, then there will be an economic collapse. Therefore, Turkey will go in this direction, but very slowly. Although Turkish society understands well what Russia is,” Dzhemilov said in an interview with “Krim.Realiya”.

In his opinion, Erdogan is of the opinion that the position of a mediator will contribute more to the protection of the rights of the residents of Crimea, who remain under occupation, so he can discuss something with Putin.

At the same time, the recently announced position of the Turkish president regarding Crimea is very important, since the Kremlin tried to both persuade and blackmail him, but it did not work.

“I was told that Putin told Erdogan: they say, we will open the flow of tourists , we will expand trade so that only Turkey does not participate in the summit (Crimean Platform, – ed.). And Erdogan says: my relatives live there (in Crimea – ed.); shall I then tell them that I exchanged them for tourists? And then Ukraine is our neighbor, and according to the Koran neighbors should help each other, he said. And this time he made a good speech himself,” Dzhemilev added.
