Truss named the new king of Great Britain

Prince Charles is the son of Queen Elizabeth II and the first in the list of contenders for the throne.

Prince Charles , who will inherit the British throne after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, will rule under the name Charles III, Prime Minister Elizabeth Truss announced.

< p>Charles could have chosen another name, but, like Elizabeth of his time, preferred to keep his own.

“God save the king,” said Truss, delivering the address. Thus, the motto and the first line of the anthem of Great Britain “God Save the Queen”, which sounded over Britain for 70 years, sounded in a new way.

“The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of greatest sadness for me and all members of my family. We are deeply saddened by the death of our dearest ruler and beloved mother,” the monarch's first statement reads.

Charles' coronation will take place on Friday, September 9.
