As a result of careless handling of weapons, four children were injured, one boy is in serious condition.
Law enforcement officers detained two suspects in the case of an explosion at an arms exhibition in Chernihiv, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in an evening address.
“On suspicion of committing a criminal offense, two persons who are directly involved in of the tragic incident in Chernihiv. The one who gave the order to take combat weapons to a public city event. And the one who allowed the child to get his hands on a weapon,” Zelenskyi said.
The president called on all representatives of the authorities and law enforcement agencies on the ground to ensure that there are no combat weapons and other dangerous means at public events.

“People's lives are the joint responsibility of all who must guarantee security,” he added.

The day before, mass events took place in the center of Chernihiv, in particular, an exhibition of weapons. Demonstrating various types of weapons and ammunition to the townspeople, the representatives of the organizers put a grenade launcher into combat mode.
Due to a careless shot, four children aged two to twelve and one adult were hospitalized. One child is in intensive care, doctors are fighting for the boy's life.

The State Bureau of Investigation has been entrusted with the pre-trial investigation, the case was opened under Part 2 of Article 414 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of the rules for handling weapons. The suspects face from two to ten years in prison.
