Three-quarters of Ukrainians believe that the UOC-MP should sever ties with the Russian Church

At the same time, 20% are in favor of state non-interference in church affairs.

In the last month alone, support in Ukraine has increased significantly ideas of severing ties between the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church . Today, 74% of Ukrainians support such an initiative, although in early March there were 63%.

According to the poll, the sociological group “Rating”, only 7% do not support the break with the ROC.

At the same time, half of the respondents, or more precisely 51%, believe that the state should ban the activities of the UOC-MP on the territory of Ukraine. At the same time, the ban is supported by two thirds of respondents in the west and only 29% in the east.

Also 21% support the deprivation of benefits and the abolition of leases of church premises. Nevertheless, 20% are in favor of non-interference in the affairs of the church – most in the east (35%) and south (25%).

The poll was conducted on April 6 by the sociological group “Rating” in all areas except temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbass among 1,200 respondents. The sample is representative by age, sex and type of settlement. Survey method: CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews). Error of representativeness of the study with a confidence level of 0.95: not more than 2.8%.
