After successful practice of the mandatory evacuation of residents of Donetsk region, the authorities do not rule out that the population evacuation program may be expanded to separate districts in Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, and Mykolaiv regions. Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk announced this on the air of the national telethon.
She noted that taking into account both the risks of shelling and the state of housing and communal infrastructure, the local authorities can make a decision on population evacuation.
“I will repeat again, we are not talking about the evacuation of all these areas, but only about the evacuation of certain areas. Yes, we do have data and we are analyzing it as to what the heating season will be like in the areas that are currently suffering from Russian shelling army. And that is why, assessing the situation, we are waiting for a letter from the OVA leadership, and only on the basis of such letters we will make a decision on evacuation from the specified areas,” said the vice-prime minister.
“That is, up to half a million people can move from the eastern regions to the Center and to the West already this fall or winter,” added Vereshchuk.
