There are about 1,000 Wagnerians in the Donbass – the Pentagon

Their priority is air strikes in the region.

На Донбассе находятся около 1000

About 1,000 people affiliated with the Russian-sponsored Wagner paramilitary group are in Donbass, Ukraine. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said this during a briefing, CNN reports.

The United States noted that the activity of Russian troops in the Donbass has grown “over the past few days.”

“We think that Wagner's group now has about 1,000 people in Donbass. We have noticed that they give priority to air strikes in the region,” Kirby said.

He also stressed that the “Wagners” have been fighting in the Donbass for the past eight years, so they have experience in this area.

It will be recalled that in the last 24 hours, about 20% of Russian troops surrounding Kyiv from the north and northwest have redeployed rather than retreated.

Earlier, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexei Danilov said that some of the Russian units withdrawing from the Kiev and Chernihiv regions of Russia will be redeployed to Kharkiv and Donetsk.
