Война в Украине: пострадали 18 миллионов человек – ВОЗ

During the month of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, the World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed 18 million victims. WHO has counted 64 confirmed attacks on Ukraine's health care system, although Health Minister Viktor Lyashko said earlier that Russia had fired on 135 hospitals , 9 of which had been completely destroyed.

“Attacks on health care are a violation of international humanitarian law, they destroy critical infrastructure, but even worse, they destroy hope. Health facilities and health workers are not – and never should be – targeted,” said WHO Representative in Ukraine Dr. Jarno. Habicht.

The WHO noted that about half of Ukraine's pharmacies are closed, many health workers are either displaced or unable to work, and about 1,000 medical facilities are near combat lines or in altered control areas.

“The consequence of this – limited access or lack of access to medicines, institutions and health professionals – means that the treatment of chronic diseases has almost stopped,” – say WHO experts.
