The US Embassy in Moscow wittily reacted to the trolling of the Russian authorities

Diplomats changed the address to coordinates.

The US Embassy in Moscow has made changes to the official website , indicating the geographical coordinates instead of the address.

In this way, the diplomats reacted to the decision of the Russian authorities to name the square in front of the building “in honor” of the Kremlin-controlled quasi-formation “DNR” in the east of Ukraine. p>

Now, instead of the old address, Velikiy Devyatynskyi Ave., bldg. 8, the coordinates by which the building is located are indicated – 55.75566° N, 37.58028° E. However, the old name is still preserved in the filters on the site.

The spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia < strong>Maria Zakharovareacted to the change of address in the manner characteristic of the Kremlin.

“It is strange that when the discussion of changing their address began, they were very positive about the topic of Donbass and literally said the following: “The country should know its heroes”. And now everything is turning around. On the other hand, changing one's opinion to the opposite is in the culture of modern US foreign policy,” she wrote in Telegram.

In fact, during the discussion there were proposals to call this territory “the square of the defenders of Donbas”. To this, American diplomats noted that the name in honor of Ukrainian defenders who courageously defend the Motherland is a good idea.

“Surprised, but not offended by the proposal of the Russian government to rename a part of the center of Moscow near the US embassy to “Donbas Defenders Square » – probably in honor of Ukrainian soldiers who bravely defend their homeland from Kremlin aggression. The country should know its heroes,” the embassy emphasized.

Voting on renaming began on the Active Citizen portal on May 30 . As of June 1, 200,000 Muscovites took part in it, most of them employees of the budget sphere, who were forced to vote.

Participants were offered four options of names: “Donbas Defenders Square”, “Donetsk People's Republic Square”, “Hero of Russia Volodymyr Zhoga Square” (killed fighter and leader of the “Sparta” battalion). The fourth option provided that the selection of the name of the square should be done by specialists.
