The United States may impose sanctions on banks that help Russia circumvent restrictions

US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo met with representatives of foreign banks and warned them about the consequences of Russia's assistance in circumventing sanctions . This is reported on the website of the US Treasury Department.

In particular, it is noted that if Russia helps to circumvent the sanctions, foreign banks themselves may fall under US restrictions. The US Treasury Department is focused on preventing Russia from circumventing the sanctions imposed.

Adeyemo said that banks risk being subject to sanctions for providing material support to the sanctioned entity. US assets expect banks to be vigilant and conduct their own inspections to make sure they are not conducting transactions with individuals or companies that are under sanctions.
