For two days, the active zones of the reactors were cooled by the operation of diesel generators.
Ukrainian specialists repaired and introduced the operation of the 750 kV high-voltage communication line of the Dniprovska Nuclear Power Plant, reported in “Energoatom”. This line remains the only communication line of the Zaporizhzhya NPP with the energy system of Ukraine, the other three were previously damaged by shelling from Russian troops.
“After almost two days of operation of the emergency cooling pumps of the active zones of the NPP reactors powered by diesel generators, operational personnel restore the normal power supply scheme for the plant's own needs from the energy system of Ukraine,” the message emphasizes.
During the operation of the diesel- generators, the radiation background at the industrial site of the Zaporizhzhya NPP and the surrounding area did not change and is within normal limits.
“This time, thanks to the courage and professionalism of nuclear power plant workers, a negative development of events was once again avoided. However, the Russian military continues provocations and shelling, bringing the world closer to a nuclear and radiation disaster,” the message concludes.
