The school curriculum in Ukrainian schools will be revised due to the war

Russian works in which propaganda is found will no longer be studied.

Ukraine will review the school curriculum in world literature and history because of the war that Russia has unleashed against Ukraine. This was announced by the Chairman of the Education Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Serhiy Babak on the air of the only national telethon.

The expert commission of the Ministry of Education should determine whether to leave Russian works in the school curriculum and if so. “Now we will seriously review the entire school curriculum. And it will apply not only to literature, it will also apply to history. But there are huge and very professional expert groups in the Ministry of Education. This is not exactly a matter of deputies, but we we will do our best to support experts in their decisions, “Babak said.

He added that classical works are probably still worth studying, such as Dostoevsky, Chekhov or Tolstoy. Instead, everything that has any elements of propaganda should be removed from the school curriculum.

Babak said that Ukraine will not completely abandon Russian language lessons in schools, because it could lead to violations rights of children of national minorities.

Earlier, the Education Ombudsman explained the conditions under which the Russian language can be taught in schools.
