The Russian Federation uses energy as a weapon against Europe — the White House

The US and Europe are working together to solve the energy crisis.

Moscow uses energy as a tool of pressure on Europe, stated the White House in response to Gazprom's suspension of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. This is reported by Reuters.

“Unfortunately, it is not surprising that Russia continues to use energy as a weapon against European consumers,” said a representative of the US National Security Council.

Within the sanctions measures against Russia for the invasion of Ukraine, the EU plans to ban the export of crude oil and petroleum products from the Russian Federation. The G7 countries have formally agreed to impose a price cap on Russian oil to cut Russian revenues while keeping oil flowing to global markets.

A National Security Council official said the United States and Europe are working together to ensure sufficient supplies.

“Thanks to these efforts, European gas storages will be filled before the critical winter heating season. These efforts alone will not be enough, and we will continue to work together to respond to the troubling energy picture in Europe,” the US representative said.
