On July 16, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Russian occupation forces launched a rocket attack on the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. As a result of the explosions, civilians were injured and killed, the mayor of the city, Ruslan Trebushkin, reported on Telegram.
“Rocket strikes on the Pokrovsk community continue. Houses were damaged, a car was broken. There are victims, there are wounded among the civilian population,” the mayor said.
According to Trebushkin, some Ukrainian civilians were left homeless due to the enemy attack. He explained that many houses were damaged by the impact: “windows, doors were broken, everything was pushed inside the houses, outside”.
The Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk region later specified that the occupiers had hit the former building of the Palace of Culture and caused two trucks to catch fire. It was also reported that the invaders damaged 16 private residential buildings.

As of 4:00 p.m., rescuers extinguished the trucks. Information about victims and victims is still being clarified.
Besides, as Trebushkin said, a special commission is working at the scene to determine the amount of damage caused by the Russian strike.
The mayor called on people to help resettle those residents whose homes were destroyed or damaged.
At 8:00 p.m., the National Police of the Donetsk region announced that Russian troops attacked the private sector of Pokrovsk with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles. According to the press service, at least 27 buildings were damaged.
On the evening of July 16, the Russian invaders also fired rockets on the territory of the Chhyryna community of the Cherkasy region. Two explosions were heard in one of the populated areas.
