The International Committee of the Red Cross is preparing to organize a free humanitarian corridor from Mariupol to Zaporozhye on April 1, the ICRC said on Thursday.

“For logistics and security reasons, we will be ready to conduct a safe passage operation tomorrow, Friday, provided that all parties agree on the exact conditions, including route, start time and duration,” the statement said.

The ICRC claims that their teams are already traveling with prepared supplies and medical supplies to be ready for the safe exit of civilians from Mariupol.

“It is very important that this operation takes place. The lives of tens of thousands of people in Mariupol depend on it,” the ICRC said.

According to preliminary information , five thousand residents, including 210 children, died in 27 days of siege . But in reality the number of victims may be much higher.

Earlier, the Mariupol City Council said that residents of those areas of the city that were under Russian occupation are being forcibly deported to Russia . Thus, almost 15,000 people were deported illegally.
