Otherwise, by 2035, the Ukrainian scientific environment will be completely degraded.
So that Ukrainian science can develop and become competitive in world, its funding should be increased from 0.41% of GDP to 2% of GDP, writes in his article for ZN.UA Alexander Kostyuk.
In particular, he identifies four main steps that need to be taken not just for development, but also to maintain the effectiveness of the Ukrainian scientific environment, which is the engine of economic development of the state:
First – increase funding for science
Second – increasing the number of young people in science. In particular, to create conditions for the return of the rate of young scientists, which he was in the pre-war 2013 – about 3000.
Third – increase the salaries of scientists, especially young, to a level above average salary in the country, ie UAH 14,300, by 20-30%.
Fourth – increase in funding for the purchase of research equipment.
“If this is not done , under the pressure of these problems, the “brain drain” to European countries will finally reach our science, and dreams of a high impact of our science and economic reconstruction will turn into an illusion, “- said the expert.
According to him, by 2035 the number of researchers in Ukraine will decrease 4.6 times, which “can be considered the completion of the final liquidation of Ukrainian science.”
