The Prosecutor General's Office will hand over 48 kilograms of gold confiscated from former Minister Stavytsky

The gold confiscated from former Energy Minister Eduard Stavytsky will be donated to meet the needs of the Ukrainian army. 48 kilograms of precious metal were confiscated the day before by law enforcement agencies.

The Office of the Prosecutor General reported that the seizure of property was carried out as part of criminal proceedings.

“At the initiative of the Office of the Prosecutor General by the decision of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to ensure the defense of Ukraine in favor of the state collected gold in bank bars weighing more than 48 kilograms. The value of the seized in cash equivalent is over UAH 90 million. The property was confiscated as part of a criminal investigation and belonged to one of the former high-ranking officials close to the fugitive ex-president, who was involved in seizing the Mezhyhirya state residence, the Prosecutor General's Office said.

Eduard Stavytsky was the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry from 2012 to 2014. As a result of the investigation, it became known that it was during this period that he illegally enriched himself with state gold.
