Israel conducted an examination of Iranian drones.
The President of Israel said on Tuesday that he < strong>shared intelligence with the U.S. to prove that Iran supplied the Russian-controlled drones that led to the destruction in Ukraine, and called for a tough response.
The U.S. and the European Union have already reached a similar conclusion, but Israel is pushing for tough action against the clerical state of Iran, which it sees as its biggest threat.
President Isaac Herzog held talks with Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during a visit to Washington, during which he will meet with President Joe Biden on Wednesday.
“Iranian weapons play a key role in destabilizing our world, and the international community must bear there are lessons from this now and in the future,” Herzog said.
“The world must speak to Iran in one language – a tough, unified and uncompromising language.”
Herzog's office said in a statement that he would share images assessed by Israel that show similarities between drones shot down in Ukraine and parts tested in Iran in December 2021 and displayed at an exhibition in Iran in 2014.
Photographic evidence shows that the drones in Ukraine share many of the same characteristics, including their structure, size and numbering, his office said.
Blinken said at the start of the meeting with Herzog that the US and Israel are “standing together against dangerous, destabilizing and terrorizing actions carried out by Iran”.
“Iran's provision of drones to Russia for further aggression against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people shows terrible results on the ground in Ukraine,” Blinken said.
The senior American diplomat also spoke about the violence in the occupied West Bank, where on Tuesday under six Palestinians were killed in major raids against the militant group, bringing thousands of mourners to the streets.
Blinken said he would speak to Herzog about “the real concern we have about the violence we're seeing in the West shores”.
“We urge everyone to take the necessary steps to try to de-escalate this violence and avoid actions or statements that could provoke it,” Blinken said.
Herzog's visit comes days before Israel's fifth election. in less than four years, in which former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had a strained relationship with the US Democratic administration, is seeking a comeback.
As reported after the drone attack on Kyiv last Monday, Foreign Minister of Ukrainian Affairs Dmytro Kuleba addressed with help from air defense to Israel. The request was rejected by Defense Secretary Benny Gantz mainly because the country depends on cooperation with Russia to conduct airstrikes in Syria by the Israeli Air Force. According to him, Israel will provide an early warning system, but not anti-aircraft weapons.
