The Pope warned about the beginning of the third world war several years ago.
Pope Francis said that the world, despite two tragic world wars, never learned to respect human rights, international law and cooperation. He noted that both anachronistic conflicts and extreme, aggressive nationalism are intensifying.
As a result of ensuring dominance, new wars break out, in which innocent people, including children, die. The Pope recalled his words of several years ago that The Third World War is going on in parts. He stated that now it is necessary to talk about a total world war.
He reminded that St. John Paul II thanked God for saving the world from nuclear war. He said that, unfortunately, we have to pray to God for this again, because such a threat arises again.
According to the Pope, it is necessary to mobilize all knowledge based on science and experience to overcome poverty, new forms of slavery and avoid wars.
Francis called for abandoning studies whose inevitable goal is death in “specific historical circumstances”. He called on scientists around the world to join their efforts to “disarm science and create forces for peace”.

He noted that it is necessary to testify to “freedom, justice, dialogue, encounter, love and peace and avoid hatred, resentment, division, violence and war”.
“In the name of God who gave us the planet to protect it and development, today we are called to ecological transformation, to the preservation of our common home and our lives and the lives of future generations, not to increasing inequality, exploitation and destruction,” Francis said. He urged scientists to work in the name of truth and peace.
