Negotiations are underway to return 12 buses so that people can be evacuated.
On March 31, 12 evacuation buses loaded with humanitarian aid arrived in Melitopol, but all the cargo was taken away by the Russian military. This was announced by the Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk during a briefing.
“This is 14 tons of food and medicine. This is the price of agreements, this is the price of guarantees of the International Red Cross that the corridors will work and be provided. We are negotiating that the buses be returned and Melitopol residents can go to Zaporozhye tomorrow,” Vereshchuk said. .
She also reported on the work of the humanitarian corridors on March 31.
According to her, 1,458 people arrived in Zaporizhia on three agreed corridors on Thursday. From them 631 people from Mariupol and 827 inhabitants of the cities of the Zaporozhye area: Berdyansk, Melitopol, Energodar, Pologov, Orekhov, Gulyaypol and Vasilyevka.
Also 45 evacuation buses arrived in Berdyansk, but the occupiers did not let them into the city. Therefore, 600 people got on buses from the city and on the morning of April 1 must leave for Zaporozhye. There are more than 30 buses left at the entrance to Berdyansk to pick up Mariupol residents and Berdyansk residents.
In addition, 50 private cars with people and a bus with children left Energodar. They passed all the checkpoints and are already in Zaporozhye.
