Local counterattacks by the APU hinder attempts by the Russian army to reorganize its forces.
The Russian occupation army has focused its efforts on trying to surround the APU in eastern Ukraine, the British Defense Ministry said on Twitter.
“Russian forces appear to be concentrating on trying to encircle Ukrainian forces directly in front of separatist areas in the east, advancing from Kharkiv in the north and Mariupol in the south,” the statement said.
According to British intelligence, the battlefield in northern Ukraine remains largely static, and local APU counterattacks are preventing the occupiers' attempts to reorganize their forces.
