The flow of refugees from Ukraine trying to enter the United States is growing sharply on the US-Mexico border. Hundreds of Ukrainians have settled in a makeshift camp near Tijuana, according to Voice of America.

It is noted that the number of Ukrainians arriving in the United States has risen sharply after the White House announced its readiness to accept up to 100,000 Ukrainian refugees.

Many Ukrainians flew to Mexico and went to the US border, hoping to be allowed to reunite with American relatives or friends.

People are sitting on blankets, folding chairs, some pitching tents near the United States border crossing in Tijuana.

The publication also reports that volunteers from the United States have arrived in Tijuana to compile lists of newcomers.

There are about 600 Ukrainians in the camp at the border, and another 500 have stayed in Tijuana hotels. It is noted that about 40% of refugees are children. About a hundred Ukrainians are allowed to enter the United States every day.

According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the flow of refugees from Ukraine is gradually declining . Over the past five days, it has decreased from 66.08 thousand people to 41.67 thousand per day.
