The new commander of Russian forces in Ukraine will increase the terror of the civilian population – Sullivan

He has already distinguished himself during the war in Syria.

Newly appointed Russian General Alexander Dvornikov, who will now lead Russian troops in Ukraine, carry out further brutal attacks on civilians, said US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.

“This particular general has a summary that includes violence against civilians in wars other than Syria, and we can expect even worse steps. This general will be another author of crimes and atrocities against the civilian population of Ukraine, “Sullivan told CNN.

He stressed that the appointment of Dvornikov as head of the operation does not greatly increase Russia's chances of success in general, because it has already suffered a “strategic failure.”

“No appointment of any general can erase the fact that Russia has already faced a strategic failure in Ukraine,” Sullivan said.

“And what we learned during the first few weeks of this war is that Ukraine will never be subordinated to Russia. It doesn't matter which general Putin appoints, “he added.” The goal will be to improve coordination and win at any cost by May 9.

Dvornikov, 60, was the first commander of Russia's military operations in Syria after Putin sent troops there in September 2015 to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government.
