This year's Melpomene of Tavria International Theater Festival will not be able to pass in Kherson, as the city is under Russian occupation . However, according to theater critic Oleg Vergelis on his Facebook page, the event will take place from June 10 to 19 in a changed format.

Currently, due to wartime circumstances, the festival headquarters operates in Lviv, where decisions are made. According to Oleksandr Kniga, chairman of the Melpomene of Tavria organizing committee (at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he was captured by the occupiers – ed.), Theaters will play plays in their cities, hold press conferences about Kherson , assistance to the Supreme Court and the role of theater in the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Previously, 30 theaters agreed to join the festival this year, including groups from Romania, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, Georgia and various cities of Ukraine.

On June 10, Lviv will host a press conference on the occasion of the opening of the XXIV International Melpomene of Tavria Theater Festival (Lviv National Opera, Mirror hall). And on June 11 (Saturday) – the opening of the festival – Project Art Theater (Kyiv), theatrical performance “WE” based on the poetry of A. Matviychuk.
