In recent days, there has been a tendency in the city to create illegal “people's republics” by the Russian military.
During March 23-24, the majority of deputies of the Energodar City Council resigned, the mayor of the temporarily occupied Energodar Dmitry Orlov told Telegram.
According to him, the decision was made due to the inability to work effectively and to avoid the forced use of votes to create so-called “people's republics” ruled by Russia.
“Deputies of different factions explain this difficult but well-considered decision by the impossibility to perform their duties in good faith and effectively, within the framework of the current legislation of Ukraine. It is in such conditions that they are placed now, a month after the start of the war. “To prevent the use of their votes under duress – to create any illegal” people's republics “in the city of Energodar under the rule of the aggressor country, namely such a trend on the part of the occupiers is observed in the city in recent days,” said Orlov.
The mayor clarified that the deputies from the political parties “European Solidarity”, “For the Future”, “New Politics” and some representatives of the former OPZZh , whose activities were suspended by the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, resigned.
The mayor added that all deputies who have resigned will continue to engage in public work and help the residents of Energodar.
Orlov also stressed that all protected items of expenditure (salaries of employees of public utilities and the public sector, utilities) will continue to be funded subject to the work of the State Treasury of Ukraine.
