In the context of the full-scale war waged by Russia against Ukraine and the disruption of the normal educational process, there are now several options for giving students semester and annual grades. Oksana Onishchenko talks about the peculiarities of the end of the 2021-2022 school year in the article “The Ministry of Education and Science explained how the school year will end and what will happen to grades and certificates .

  • If the documents are in order , the school keeps a journal and it survives, the final assessment is as usual.
  • If the information on the grades obtained in the first semester is lost , the annual evaluation will be available on the basis of points only for the second semester. If this is not the case (for example, the school burned down along with the documents) and there were no assessments in the second semester, the student's success can be assessed based on the results of a written test.
  • If the child has studied abroad for some time or at another school in the place of temporary residence , the annual assessment will take into account all the assessments he received during this period. The school where the student is temporarily studying will provide an information certificate indicating the list of subjects and grades.
  • If there are no grades or the student objectively did not have the opportunity to study or more than half of the lessons in a particular subject were held in a distance format , the school pedagogical council can assess the student's success not in points but in words “passed or failed”.
