The struggle for this green corner of Kyiv was the life's work of activist Roman Ratushny.
On Thursday, July 14, the Kyiv City Council decided regarding the creation of a landscape reserve “Protasiv Yar”. The status of a nature reserve will protect this green corner of Kyiv from development.
The struggle for the preservation of Protasovoy Yar was the life's work of activist Roman Ratushny, who died defending Ukraine from Russian invaders.
“The creation of the nature reserve is a tribute to the memory of Roman Ratushny and evidence that his work and the work of many Kyivans who fought for this green zone was not in vain. “Protasiv Yar” was saved from development. It is a landscape reserve! And it will please more than one generation of Kyivans,” Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized.
The NGO “Protect Protasiv Yar” welcomed the decision of the capital authorities.< /p>
“There will be a landscape reserve on both slopes of Protasovoy Yar! 85 deputies of the Kyiv City Council supported this decision. Thank you for your courage and support of the Poderu community – a lot of work on the arrangement and development of Protasovoy Yar. But an important step towards the dream of the people of Kyiv and Roman Rathushnyi has already been taken!”, the message reads.
Activists are ready to work for the implementation of the decision and help create a nature reserve.
